Based in the Fraser Valley, sharing what I've learned.
I'm Shannon. This is my platform for supporting other abuse survivors — sharing my own healing journey to help others going through something similar.
"So often survivors have had their experiences denied, trivialized, or distorted. Writing is an important avenue for healing..."
— Ellen Bass, The Courage to Heal"In order to escape accountability for his crimes, the perpetrator does everything in his power to promote forgetting..."
— Judith Lewis Herman, Trauma and Recovery"The silence was killing me... Keep quiet. Pretend nothing had happened..."
— J. Lynn, Wait for You"I can be changed by what happens to me, but I refuse to be reduced by it."
— Maya AngelouWhen no one believes you, your world shrinks.
Experiencing abuse limited my world in ways that are hard to describe. When the people closest to me didn't believe my account, that isolation became its own kind of pain — on top of everything else I was carrying.
Rooted in community, right here in BC.
I live and work in the Fraser Valley, a close-knit agricultural region in southwestern British Columbia. This is home — and it's where I've found the community and support that carried me through my healing.
Recovery is possible — I'm living proof.
Managing my mental health and working through my trauma hasn't been easy, but I've made real progress. If you're in the middle of it right now, I want you to know: there is another side, and you can reach it.
